weeze

brilliant. weezer covering MGMT and then lady gaga at the t-mobile new sidekick launch party last night.

job offer (:

yay (:

i got my official job offer from val verde regional medical center (hospital). after 6 weeks of interviewing via phone only, i've been offered a full-time position that is two-fold. half of my week will be spent in the HR department and the other half they want me to join the leadership team as a project coordinator for the hospital.

they want me to start july 13. all i have left to do it...say yes

friend of the library

so...it may or may not have been about 15 years since i last had a public library card but i got inspired on wednesday and applied for my card. i rolled into the magnolia library, all high-and-mighty-like, on thursday to get my ticket to heaven. with that, my eyes have been opened to a whole new world of...music. as soon as the librarian told me that my check-out limit was ONE HUNDRED items, i was in paradise. rather than heading straight to the book section, i hit up the muzac and found some schwangin tunage. let's just say i had to purchase a $1 "Friends of the Seattle Public Library" bag to carry my TWENTY FIVE indie albums to the check-out. i'm still perhaps battling some ethical issues with checking out this music only to download it to my itunes and share the love, but...the guilt is quite faint. the thing i couldn't believe was that i got all this fly music from the magtown library. if you're not acquainted with seattle neighborhoods, magnolia is about as white and traditional as you can get. composed of two main "hills" of neighborhoods, the eastern hill is mostly college people or your average family homes/apartments, the western hill is high-faluting, richie riches that have money and wear it well. so, needless to say, i was quite pleased with my hood's selection of ear snacks.

i picked up:
3 feist albums, modest mouse, kt tunstall's newest "drastic fantastic", 2 rufus wainwright albums (one is a 2 disc cover of judy garland's 1961 carnegie hall concert), toby lightman, vampire weekend, the latest keane CD, dandy warhols, kate nash, the pastels music remix, 2 raconteurs albums, MIA's latest, brandi carlile's "the story", new jimmy eat world (mine is scratched beyond recognition), the white stripes "icky thump", sunset rubdown, 3 albums from the decemberists, hellogoodbye and mates of state (AMAZING).

what a steal.

my mothers

for the strength, courage, determination and humor that great-grandma drydale gave to me, thank you.

for the lessons of humility, servitude, grace, love and selflessness learned from living with grandma matie for 21 years, thank you.

for the ways deb has taught me introspection, stillness, grace, maturity, independence and LOVE, thank you.

for the blessing that mary has been to my life, being the caretaker of my spirit and teacher of all things "earthy", thank you.

for the many ways that nancy has taught me what it means to be a loving mother, ever giving of herself for her children, thank you.

for the ways that sue taught me to laugh at myself, live freely, follow Christ and pursue my dreams, thank you.

finally, and most importantly, for the woman who is responsible for all that i am, i thank my own mother. she has taught me what it means to have a gentle spirit, yet live life with the passion and determination of a prize fighter. she has taught me how to laugh long and hard. to never change who you are. to be a witness! to follow my passions, dreams and hopes, no matter what they are or where they lead. to love Christ with your heart, soul, occupation, and actions. to love those around me with reckless abandon. i cannot give my mom enough praise, for her faith has led many, in my own family and beyond, to Christ. she is the joy of my heart and soul sister.

where the sidewalk ends

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

grad?

here is my dilemma. i've been graduated for 49 days now and i just don't know if i want to spend ALL that time on a perfectly beautiful (fingers crossed) saturday to get an empty leather portfolio. my diploma is, i hope, still on my mom's fridge. i think it would be SO much more fun to have my family come up and play for a couple of days. i borrowed a cap and gown in case i do the thing but...no announcements. yeesh. i guess i have to decide this SOON.

words of hope

not written by me, but valid nonetheless.

may all who wonder, wander, and work on the impossible
taste and see that the Lord is good
all the time and all the time
today...we will chase doubt around the living room
tomorrow we will sin and shine
sometimes it makes me tremble.
He simply came to our place of fear and reminded us that we loved Him and each other;
that simplicity would come only when we embraced the convolution
because in Christ all things hold together
and in that mystery, all things are bathed indeed.
you are blessed
you are beloved
you are
amen
