warpaint

fridays are funny little pieces of magic. they lift my mood and always seem to go by quicker. on fridays i feel rested, prettier and excited at the prospect of two whole days of open plans. prettier? yep. on fridays, like every other day, i sit indian style in front of my floor-length mirror and put on my warpaint but somehow it just looks fresher, warmer, creamier and dewier (perhaps not a real word) than every other day. so i walk out the door with a happy heart, a thermos of coffee and a smile on my face. with all that said, i thought i'd share some of my favorite products in my little morning routine.

i swear by aveeno's positively radiant daily moisturizer. i once got embarrassingly heated with a seattle TSA agent over a hidden bottle in my carry-on (which the jerk threw away) - that is how much i love the stuff. i even tried surviving without it and lasted only a couple of weeks. seriously, your face will feel soft and dewy all day long with this gem. it can be picked up at any store in the beauty section and, big plus, it comes in an SPF 15 (my choice) and 30. somehow it really does make your face reflect more light and keep that happy, radiant glow all day.

i don't wear any sort of base powder or foundation, just some under-eye concealer (thanks bobbi brown) but am a lover of all things blushing and bronze. i use two bronzers every day and a little blush. in the interest of keeping this short and sweet, i adore my physicians formula shimmer strips custom bronzer in "vegas strip". while meant to be used on the face, eyes AND as a blush, i do a light dusting over my mac bronzer and blush for a summery glow. makes my face look luminous without being shiny or overpowering.

that bobbi brown girl sure knows how to do make-up. i was first introduced to it on my BFF quinn's wedding day when they killed it on my bridesmaid warpaint. of all the BB products i use, my most favorite is her long-wear cream shadow in "beach bronze". this can be applied with a cream shadow brush or your fingers for a sheer look. it really does last forever and makes my baby blues POP. bonus! it's light and won't come off or crease throughout the day.

last, but not least, ze lips! i am religious about my use of bonne bell's strawberry lipsmacker. thanks to target, i pretty much buy it in bulk and have tubes everywhere (car, headboard, work, every purse and pocket in my closet). so cheap and doesn't give you an unsavory flavor when you lick your lips (:

on top of that, i do a quick swipe of mac's tinted lipglass in "nymphette" and i'm good to go. layering this over the lipsmacker thins it out, making it less sticky and thick. it's got hints of pink, peach and gold that really make your pout sparkle. so, basically, i like to keep my face screaming "summer!" all year round (: hey, if seattle weather won't bring my favorite season, there's no reason why my mug can't.
